Two HTC Grip fitness bands on black, lime strap and dark shell. One reads “Hello!” on its curved display; the other shows a 42:01 run timer with activity icons.

overview

The HTC Grip was a sport-centric wrist wearable, designed and built with Under Armour. I designed the entire UI for it, every component, layout and icon, working closely with the interaction, motion and hardware designers.

It was my first screen that was not a phone. A band that narrow, read mid-run, means you get one line of information at a time, so most of the work was deciding what that line is at each moment and how the type and icons hold up on a strip of display at arm's length.
